Senior Citizens Tech Haven ("we", "our", "us") operates this website to provide free digital literacy guidance for older adults in Kenya and their families. Your trust matters to us, and this policy explains — in plain language — what information we handle, why, and how we keep it safe. It is written to comply with the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019.

1. Information We Do NOT Collect

Important: We will never ask you for your M-Pesa PIN, bank PIN, passwords, ID number, bank account details or any other financial information — not on this website, not by phone, not by email. If anyone claiming to be from SCTH asks for these, it is a scam. Please report it to us.

2. Information We Collect

We keep data collection to a minimum so you can learn with peace of mind:

Questions you type to Elsah AI. When you chat with Elsah, your message is processed to give you an answer. Our system is designed to detect and block messages containing sensitive details such as PINs, phone numbers, ID numbers or passwords before they are stored or sent to the AI service. Chats are not used to build advertising profiles.
Basic usage data. Like most websites, we use Google Analytics to count page visits and see which guides are most helpful. This data is aggregated and does not identify you personally. You can opt out using Google's Ads Settings or the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Local storage on your device. If you install our app (PWA) or adjust settings such as text size, those preferences are stored on your own device. We do not receive a copy.

3. How We Use Information

Information is used only to operate and improve the platform: answering your questions through Elsah, understanding which guides help seniors most, keeping the website safe from misuse, and improving accessibility. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers.

4. Third-Party Services

We rely on a small number of trusted providers: Netlify (website hosting), Groq (AI processing for Elsah, operating under its own privacy policy), Google Analytics (anonymous usage statistics) and Google AdSense (which may serve ads and use cookies where enabled). Each provider processes data under its own privacy terms, which we encourage you to review.

5. Cookies

Cookies are small files websites place on your device. This site uses only the cookies necessary for analytics and, where applicable, advertising. You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings at any time — the guides will still work.

6. Data Retention

Chat messages processed by Elsah are not kept longer than needed to deliver an answer and maintain safety checks. Aggregated analytics are retained by Google according to its retention settings. We do not maintain databases of our learners' personal details.

7. Your Rights

Under the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019 you have the right to ask what data we hold about you, request correction or deletion, and object to processing. Because we collect so little personal data, these requests are simple — just contact us using the details below.

8. Children and Vulnerable Users

This platform is designed for adults, including seniors who may need support from family members. If you help an older relative use this site, please do not enter their personal details on their behalf unless they have asked you to.

9. Changes to This Policy

If we update this policy, the new version will appear on this page with a revised "last updated" date. Significant changes will be highlighted on the homepage.
